Which Dermal Filler or Injection Is the Right Choice for You?

If you want a better and younger face but don’t feel comfortable going under the knife for a facelift, then you have nothing to worry about. There are plenty of effective and FDA-approved methods that can be administered through injection. In fact, there are so many options that it might be difficult to choose which one is best for you. Here are some of your options, along with a quick summary of why they might be right for you.

Botox

Botox (and its close relative Dysport) is able to treat selected areas very well because the treatment is localized. It essentially numbs your muscles under the skin, and it getting your muscles to relax, it eliminates the wrinkles those muscles were causing. It can be used almost anywhere on the face and usually lasts about 4 months.

Radiesse

Although not a famous as Botox, Radiesse will truly make you radiant. It works best at filling in the lines and plumping up the already existing soft tissue. Essentially, there are tiny particles, like little balls or bubbles, in the filler that, when injected into the skin, help boost up skin that is fallen or sagging. In many ways it looks more natural than Botox, and it also lasts much longer: some patients report it lasting at least one year.

Sculptra

Originally used to treat fat loss in HIV patient’s faces, Sculptra is now being used with great results for aging patients as well. It does require multiple treatments and not just one series of injections. However, once the treatment is completely, your skin will be plump and beautiful for at least two years.

Other Options

You still have yet more options! Injectables like Restylane, Perlane, and Juvederm are all fairly well know in the dermal filler worlds. These three are based on hyaluronic acid, which is a natural compound found in the human body, making these fillers very biocompatible. Originally they were used just around the nose and mouth, but today they’re available to augment any and all of your facial features, whether you are looking for more volume or fewer wrinkles.
