Are you tired of dealing with excess skin and fat on your abdomen or outer thighs? If so, you may be able to benefit from tumescent liposuction in New York. Tumescent liposuction can be performed on patients who are unhappy with the way their abdomen, waist, and outer thighs look. Read on to learn about this procedure.
Dr. Wallach begins the procedure by creating multiple small incisions to gain access for the liposuction. Fluid is then infused through these different access ports to tumesce the area. The tumescent fluid is made up of lactated Ringer’s solution which is a sterile solution along with epinephrine which constricts the blood vessels and tightens them up to minimalize any blood loss. The solution also contains Lidocaine, which is a numbing medication. Once this fluid is infused into all the areas that are going to be treated, liposuction can then take place. The liposuction is performed using various cannulas, which are tubular structures that have multiple different holes in them, varying in size and width. With these cannulas, the fatty content of the areas is removed using a back and forth motion, and the patient’s contour is improved.
After the procedure, Dr. Wallach will close the small incisions with sutures, and the patient will be placed in a compression garment which will need to be worn for several weeks after the procedure. The sutures can be removed a week post-op.
