Laser Treatments
Conveniently located to serve the areas of New York, NY

New York City Laser Procedures BBL is a new technology that utilizes pulsed light to deliver photorejuvenation therapy. The light energy from BBL heats up the outer layers of skin and targets the melanin in the hair follicles.
A cooling mechanism on the contact surface protects the outer skin layers. There is little to no downtime with this treatment, but it can require multiple treatments to produce the desired effects. Patients may feel a sensation of a rubber band snapping, or some warmth while undergoing this procedure. But because of the built in cooling system, there is usually very little discomfort from this system. Therefore, topical anesthetic is usually not required.
Patients should avoid sun exposure both before and after treatment, because the skin will be sensitive to the UV light until it is fully healed. It is encouraged that patients avoid direct sun exposure and use sun block after treatment. Treatment can be repeated every six to eight weeks until the desired effect is achieved.

Pigmented Lesions/Skin Treatment
BBL is a technology that utilizes pulsed light to deliver photorejuvenation therapy. The light energy from BBL heats up the outer layers of skin and can target melanin and surface vessels. BBL is great for treatment of dyschromias (sun spots), hyperpigmentation, melasma, freckles, warts, scars, and striae (stretch marks). It has also been shown to improve the overall skin tone of tissue treated.
There is little to no downtime with this treatment, but it can require multiple treatments to produce the desired effects.
Patients may feel a sensation of a rubber band snapping or some warmth while doing this procedure. But because of the built in cooling system, there is usually very little discomfort from this system. Therefore, topical anesthetic is usually not required. Pigmented lesions will turn a darker color after treatment with BBL, but will eventually flake off after approximately two weeks.
Patients should avoid sun exposure both before and after treatment, because the skin will be sensitive to the UV light until it is fully healed. It is encouraged that patients avoid direct sun exposure and use sun block after treatment. Treatment can be repeated every two to four weeks until the desired effect is achieved.
Skin Tightening
BBL-ST is a technology that utilizes pulsed light to deliver photo-rejuvenation therapy. The infrared light energy from BBL -ST for skin tightening heats the collagen within the skin, causing the skin to contract. This is a great way to tighten skin on the face, neck, abdomen, arms, legs, and buttocks without undergoing surgery. There is little to no downtime with this treatment, but it can require multiple treatments to produce the desired effect.

Patients should avoid sun exposure both before and after treatment, because the skin will be sensitive to the UV light until it is fully healed. Sun block should be used after treatment.
While results are appreciated after one procedure, delayed tightening occurs over a few months. Best results are achieved after having two to three treatments spaced one month apart.
Vascular Lesions/Skin Treatment
BBL is a technology that utilizes pulsed light to deliver photo rejuvenation therapy. The light energy from BBL heats up the outer layers of skin and can target melanin and surface vessels. BBL can treat telangiectasias, rosacea, hemangiomas, and port wine stains. It has also been shown to improve the overall skin tone of tissue treated.

Typically sun exposed areas are treated; this includes the face, neck, hands, chest, and shoulders. There is little to no downtime with this treatment, but it can require multiple treatments to produce the desired effects. Patients should avoid sun exposure both before and after treatment, because the skin will be sensitive to the UV light until it is fully healed. It is encouraged that patients avoid direct sun exposure and use sun block after treatment. Treatment can be repeated every two to four weeks until the desired effect is achieved.
ClearScan Laser™
The ClearScan™ hair removal system can treat all skin types and even sun-tanned individuals. This is a significant improvement from older technology that only provided treatment of light skinned individuals and non-tanned skin. The ClearScan™ hair removal system can also treat ingrown hairs or “shave bumps.” As the result of an added cooling system, treatment can be performed without topical anesthesia. The cooling system eliminates the heat, and therefore the pain that is normally generated during treatment.
“I always wanted to be a physician because I wanted to help people. Plastic surgery gives me the ability to help people in very positive ways.”
Steven Wallach, MD
Body hair grows in different phases and only hairs in the active growth phase can be successfully treated. It is for this reason that individuals will require four to six treatments every six to eight weeks to produce the best results. This may not provide complete, permanent hair removal; however, those few hairs that do remain are often thinner and lighter in color.
Side effects may include some residual redness after treatment that usually goes away after a few days. It is encouraged that patients avoid direct sun exposure and use sun block after treatment.
Vascular Lesion Treatment
The ClearScan™ system uses infrared energy to treat a variety of skin disorders all over the body. This includes rosacea, redness, telangiectasias, spider veins, facial veins, and broken capillaries. The laser targets blood selectively in the target vessel. Some lesions will be less noticeable, some will disappear, and others will significantly improve.

As the result of an added cooling system, treatment can be performed without topical anesthesia. The cooling system eliminates the heat, and therefore the pain that is normally generated during treatment.
A series of treatments may be required to achieve the desired effect. There may be some temporary redness following treatment, but this will usually subside a few hours later. On rare occasion, the redness may last a few days. It is encouraged that patients avoid direct sun exposure and use sun block after treatment. Re-treatment may be required in two to four weeks.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
An Erbium laser is used to remove fine layers of skin in a controlled fashion. The Erbium laser can perform a deeper peel than those achieved with the MicroLaserPeel™ (MLP™ ). It can be used to treat wrinkles, acne scars, sun spots, moles, pre-cancerous lesions, and scars. A deep Erbium laser peel usually requires anesthesia that is administered in an operating room. Since this is a deeper peel than a MLP™ , the recovery time is longer. This may approach one week, with redness of the face persisting for several weeks. This is often combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures, such as a facelift or eyelift.
MicroLaserPeel ™ (MLP ™ ) – “Weekend Peel”
MicroLaserPeel™ (MLP™) is a great procedure for those individuals who want an improvement of their skin with very little downtime. Fine wrinkles, and skin dyschromias (sun spots) can be treated. This Erbium laser peel can remove the upper levels of the skin; a peel depth that is between a microdermabrasion and a deep chemical peel. Since MLP™ is superficial, it can usually be performed with just a topical anesthetic. The MLP™ is considered a “weekend” skin peel, because the “downtime” is usually between two to four days. It can be repeated every few months until the desired effect is achieved.
Acne Reduction/Scarring
The laser light emitted by the ThermaScan™ works by heating the sebaceous glands in the dermis of the skin, leading to a reduction of oil production. This system can be used on all skin types.

As the result of an added cooling system, treatment can be performed without topical anesthesia. The cooling system eliminates the heat, and therefore the pain that is normally generated during treatment.
Patients will usually require repeated treatments every two to four weeks, and will notice improvement usually after the second or third treatment. Results of acne treatment have been reported to last up to six months. However, maintenance treatment is usually required. The benefit of this treatment is that there is almost no downtime. No wounds are created, but the skin may stay red for a short time after treatment and may feel a bit tighter. This system can be used to treat acne scarring as well.
Wrinkle Treatment “Lunch Time Laser Treatment”
The ThermaScan™ system uses an infrared laser system to rejuvenate the skin. This laser targets the papillary dermis which is just below the surface so that it can treat facial wrinkles, as well as acne scarring. Because it is a non-ablative system, it can also treat the neck. This is much safer on the neck than using chemical peels.
A cooling system is employed to protect the outer layers of the skin so that the laser light can penetrate to the deeper levels to stimulate collagen growth. Some consider this a “Lunchtime Laser” treatment because it is quick and easy with virtually no side effects. The skin may stay red for a short time after treatment and may feel a bit tighter.
Treatment can be performed every four to six weeks. Multiple treatments are usually recommended to achieve the desired effect. “Touch-up” treatments are also recommended to sustain the continued growth of collagen.
