What is a TABA?

Answer:

TABA stands for Trans-Abdominal Breast Augmentation.  This is an approach using the abdominoplasty incision to gain access for insertion of breast implants. I have used this technique in patients that underwent a mommy makeover. A mommy makeover usually refers to a procedure when a patient wants a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation at the same time and they do not have breast ptosis (sagging).  A small pocket is created extending up to each breast from the upper aspect of the elevated abdominal flap. Once this is completed the implants are placed into the pocket. The advantage is that there are no incisions on or near the breast. Saline or silicone breast implants can be placed through this approach. Back to Questions
