Liposuction or Tummy Tuck?
Along the lines of the previous blog post, many women come in after having children and want improvement of their abdomen. They do not want the incision from an abdominoplasty and all ask about liposuction. Many come in wanting liposuction of their abdomen. However, most have loose skin and a weakness in the abdominal wall called a diastasis. Liposuction will cause the skin to become looser in most of these women and it will not treat the diastasis. A tummy tuck or abdominoplasty will remove the loose excess skin, and will tighten the midline abdominal weakness, but the trade-off is the long lower abdominal incision. I try to keep the incision very low so it can be hidden in most underwear.
