DREEAM Facelift

As we age, the face deflates and the skin can sag due to loss of elasticity. Initially the face deflates, and the loss of skin elasticity usually follows. For some patients, restoring lost volume can significantly enhance the facial appearance without requiring a surgical facelift. Using hyaluronic acid filler products such as Restylane Lyft, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Voluma, and/or Restylane can directly enhance and equalize the face to restore a youthful appearance. This can improve the appearance of deflated cheeks, jowls, marionette lines, naoslabial folds, temporal hollows, tear troughs, and jaw line depressions. The face can often be enhanced as well by neuromodulators like Botox or Dysport at the same time as a DFL.

About

Unlike a facelift, the DFL is a non-surgical approach to facial rejuvenation. It does not require sedation or general anesthesia. It is performed in the office setting, often just using topical anesthetic creams. It is a fairly quick procedure that can take less than 30 minutes to perform. There is usually no significant downtime or need for a specific recovery period. Patients leave the office with an immediate improvement. The most common side effects are mild bruising and some swelling. Swelling usually goes down within a few days and most patients will not see any bruising.

Candidates

In general, a candidate for a DFL is a person who has moderate deflation of the face with mild sagging skin. It may also be an alternative for someone who does not want a surgical facelift, or has a medical condition precluding the ability to have surgery.

Recovery

For the majority of patients there is no recovery! Most patients can go back to work after the procedure. Some swelling and maybe minor soreness from injections is possible. On occasion, a patient may get a bruise. Cold packs or ice packs used intermittently and conservatively may help with swelling and bruising.
