DREEAM stands for Directly Redistribute, Equalize, or Enhance Adipose Mounds. Performing liposuction, sculpting around the perimeter of the lower back, and potentially the upper lateral thighs or hips, can significantly improve the appearance of the buttocks by redistributing or equalizing the fatty prominences. This can accentuate the buttocks and make it the most prominent structure in this aesthetic zone. The fat removed from the surrounding regions can be used for fat transfer to be redistributed, or used to enhance the buttocks’ appearance. For further enhancement, a formal BBL might be required, but there are patients that don’t need it or don’t want it.
“As an expert in the field of plastic surgery, one of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been listening to my patients’ stories about how having plastic surgery has changed their lives.”

About
Think of it as a mini-Brazilian buttock lift. The DREEAM buttock lift (DBL) procedure is quicker, the recovery is easier, and therefore patients return to work sooner than after having a BBL. Like a BBL, small incisions are used for the DBL. The procedure takes about two hours, which is usually shorter than a standard BBL, and it is also less expensive as compared to the BBL. For more information about how a DBL and BBL differ, check out our blog.
Candidates
The best candidates for DBL are those patients who have a nice, full backside, but who also have a full waist or thighs that do not complement the buttock region. This is also great for those patients that may want just a bit more shape to their buttocks, or slightly more fullness, by having a small enhancement of the buttock region using their own fat after liposuction contours the other regions.
Recovery
If only liposuction is performed, then the recovery is similar to other liposuction procedures. Most patients describe the discomfort as similar to a tough workout and so they can be sore for a few days. In general, patients can go back to work or routine activity within a few days. Commonly they can start light exercise within one week. I prefer that they wear a compression garment for three to six weeks after the procedure. If fat is injected into the buttock and hip region, then patients should not sit on the buttock region for any significant length of time for about two weeks.
