What to Expect After Vaginal Rejuvenation

Most of us often do not worry about the unwanted side effects that come after a surgery until we actually experience them. In the case of a vaginal rejuvenation, this concern is often paramount because, of course, you have just had a major surgery involving a vital part of your body.

However, following your surgeon’s post-care instructions carefully and properly will get you up and going in no time. There is nothing to fear. Here are some of the things you can expect as you recover from surgery.

Immediately After Surgery

During the first two days following your vaginal rejuvenation procedure, you can expect the site to appear and feel swollen. This is a normal side effect of the treatment and can be alleviated by applying ice packs on the external vagina. Rotating the position of the ice packs over the area best helps in minimizing the swelling around the perineum. Avoid irritating the site by wearing loose clothing and undergarments.

Weeks Following Vaginal Rejuvenation

During the first six weeks following the procedure, you can already resume most of your day-to-day activities, particularly those that do not require a lot of physical exertion or cause friction in the treatment site. If horseback riding is one of your hobbies, you may have to avoid doing so during the first four weeks of your recovery. This also applies to riding motorcycles, bikes, and the likes. Avoid exercises that require heavy lifting or pulling and pushing. More importantly, avoid straining during bowel movement.

Let’s Talk About Sex

Intercourse is usually recommended to be resumed 6 to 12 weeks after the day of surgery, but the duration depends on the method used. In the case of a transvaginal approach, sex can be resumed after six weeks.
