Celebrity influence has never driven cosmetic surgery choices as much as the popularity of the butt augmentation procedures. Seeing celebrities with full curves has inspired many women to opt for change in their buttocks as well. The two most popular techniques for augmentation include butt implants and the Brazilian Butt Lift which is augmentation through fat transfer.
Understanding Butt Implants
Gluteal or butt implants are made of silicone and can be placed in your buttocks to add volume. These implants can be either round or anatomical in shape. The most commonly used butt implants are filled with silicone which is a durable material that does not spill, rupture, or deflate due to pressure. Durability under pressure is extremely important since when you sit or lie down, your implants will experience some amount of pressure.
Augmentation using butt implants
Depending on your body type, your augmentation procedure starts with Dr. Wallach making an incision or two in the crease between your buttocks. Once the incision is made, he will then make a pocket for your implant which can be placed either above or within the gluteus maximus muscle. After the implant placement, sutures are used to close the incision. In some cases, drainage tubes may be placed at the site of incision which allows any blood and fluids to drain out during the first week of the surgery. In order to give you a naturally stunning shape, liposuction may be used to enhance the adjoining areas like the hips and flanks.
Brazilian butt lift – augmentation using fat transfer
The Brazilian butt lift is the best option for you as long as you have sufficient fat in other areas of the body. This is a fat transfer procedure which uses fat from other areas of your body in order to enhance your butt. Dr. Wallach may harvest fat from certain body areas like your thighs, back, flanks, and abdomen using a cannula and the liposuction procedure. These fat particles are then injected into the fatty layers of your buttocks to give you the desired volume.
There is a limitation to fat transfer procedures since they are dependent on the survival of this fat. Some of the fat cells implanted into your buttocks may not survive and get reabsorbed into the body. This is why the amount of augmentation you can achieve with a single session is limited to the survival of the implanted fat. In some cases, more than one session of the fat implantation may be required to help you achieve the results you desire.
