When exploring your body contouring options, you will come across the Brazilian butt lift as an option. Contrary to what many patients may think, a Brazilian butt lift can add balance and a more defined feminine shape to the figure in addition to providing a larger backside. There are a variety of ways a Brazilian butt lift is achieved, using implants or fat transfer. Both types give a different look and are easily customizable to your shape.
What is the Procedure Like?
The main difference between the Brazilian Butt Lift and a buttock augmentation is the shaping of the surrounding areas. A BBL involves the shaping of the buttock and hips to give the appearance of a larger buttock while also focusing on a curvier shape. The method you choose will depend on your current body mass as well as your aesthetic preferences. The two methods include the placement of implants or transferring fat and liposuction.
For fat transfer or liposuction, Dr. Wallach will either use your own fat from a donor site or will use liposuction as a way to sculpt the surrounding areas to provide the illusion that the buttock is larger, and the surrounding areas are slimmed down for a curvier effect. If using your own fat is not an option, Dr. Wallach can discuss your implant options with you.
Am I a Candidate?
If you are in good general health and have realistic expectations for the procedure, you are most likely a good candidate for BBL. However, if you have a lower BMI and do not have much excess fat to spare, you may be a better candidate for implants unless you gain a little weight. If you do have enough excess fat that can be harvested from a donor site, you can avoid implants and use your own fat which gives a more natural result.
