As we age, wrinkles can form across the forehead, and our brows can begin to sag, causing hooded upper eyelids. A brow lift, also called a forehead lift, is a great option for restoring the brows to a youthful position.
The Brow Lift Procedure
A brow lift can be completed using an endoscopic through very small incisions or using an open technique with a coronal incision pattern. An endoscopic approach entails the use of an endoscope (a thin tube with a camera attached) to perform the brow lift procedure. This endoscope will be placed through small incisions within the hairline. A coronal incision is used to perform an open procedure that is designed from ear to ear across the top of the head. This allows for direct visualization of the skin and muscles. The coronal approach is used for patients that have more signs of aging.
No matter which incision pattern is used, scarring will be hidden within the hair line or the hair. Muscles may be treated or removed and the skin may be lifted for a more youthful looking forehead and brow line.
Are You a Candidate?
Both men and women who are living with deep lines and creases on their forehead and those with drooping eyebrows or excess brow laxity can often benefit from this procedure. Candidates must be non-smokers who are in general good health. Individuals should also be prepared for a recovery period following the procedure, and have realistic expectations for the outcome of their procedure.
While a brow lift can provide benefits that cannot be offered by other surgical procedures, there are other nonsurgical options that may be better suited for some individuals. A consultation with Dr. Wallach is needed to help determine which form of treatment is right to meet your individual goals.
