The very popular breast augmentation is no doubt a go-to procedure for patients in New York, NY. There is also an option for those who want to undergo a breast augmentation and a tummy tuck at the same time: the transabdominal breast augmentation, or TABA. Here is an overview of how TABA is done, and who is considered a good candidate.
The TABA technique is a method in which a tummy tuck is done in conjunction with a breast augmentation. This allows for a breast augmentation to be performed with no incisions on or near the breasts. No incisions are possible because the breast implants are inserted through the abdominoplasty incision, and through two small tunnels on each side of the chest. This technique is excellent because it avoids incisions on the breast.
Ideal candidates for this procedure have mild-to-moderate breast sagging, along with a short distance between the rib cage and breast fold. Candidates should also desire a tummy tuck along with a breast augmentation. Furthermore, only a breast augmentation can be done during this process; a breast lift is a separate procedure. Those with excessive breast sagging may be better suited for a breast augmentation and lift. However, a consultation is necessary to determine the best procedures for your desired results.
Dr. Wallach is a fan of TABA and explains the advantages of the process. “The combination of full abdominoplasty with breast augmentation offers the unique opportunity to have both procedures performed not only during the same operative session but also through the same incision,” He said. “The procedure is relatively easy to perform and offers patients who request breast augmentation two advantages — breast enlargement and no scars on or around the breast.”
