Buttock augmentations are quickly rising in the ranks of most popular cosmetic procedures. Due to celebrities, such as J. Lo and the Kardashian sisters, people can’t get enough of the booty! Patients in New York, NY are no exception, but often wonder what occurs during the procedure. Here, we will discuss what to expect during a buttock augmentation with implants.
First, Dr. Steven Wallach will mark the position of the implants for the best outcome. To start the procedure, Dr. Wallach creates two incisions, one on each side of the buttocks to elevate and to open the pockets. He will then go through the soft tissue and lift towards the muscle, leaving a cuff of muscle, and go intramuscularly to make the pocket for the implant. Dr. Wallach will ensure the pocket is an adequate size, and then proceed to insert the implant.
Dr. Wallach adds the implants in the upper two-thirds of the buttock because, over time, they will slide a bit lower. He will then administer a long-acting anesthetic to alleviate some of the post-operative discomfort, and close the soft tissue in multiple layers. The patient is then wrapped in a compression garment to maintain the new contour, and the procedure is finished!
