Congratulations on your thigh lift!
Now that you can wear tight skirts without having to worry about flabby thighs, go ahead and flaunt them. However, one of the most common mistakes that patients make after their surgery is to ignore the necessary post-operative care needed to keep those thighs in their new, tip-top shape.
Make sure you know your instructions on what to do after your thigh lift in New York and be sure to follow them.
Know your limits.
Your doctor will advise you to walk as often as you can and as soon as you can after surgery. Early mobilization keeps fluids from accumulating in your thighs and helps prevent hematoma formation under your skin. However, there are certain limitations that you have to keep in mind, such as avoiding strenuous activities like heavy lifting, climbing stairs, and squatting that could strain the incision area.
Drain the excess.
You can expect to see drainage tubes on the incision sites after surgery. Because fluid is injected into your thighs before the procedure to control blood loss, draining this fluid is essential. Your plastic surgeon will determine when the drainage tubes will be removed. It’s important to take care of the incision sites and the drainage tubes. You may also have to record the amount of fluid that is draining from your thighs.
Healthy lifestyle is key. You can definitely maintain those newly-contoured thighs with regular diet and exercise. If your weight fluctuates, there is a tendency for the skin to stretch. This is why it is important to maintain a stable weight after surgery. If you haven’t been serious about improving your lifestyle before, now is the time to do so.
